South Carolina 11-Wofford 1 (7 innings) Game Summary

  • A six run run fifth inning, which included a pair of three run homers, swung the game in USC’s favor after a 2-1 start over five innings.
  • The Gamecocks scored a pair of runs in the first with two outs on a single by Talmadge LeCroy and a double to left by Luke Yuhasz. The Terriers scored an unearned run in the fourth on a two-out wild pitch allowing the runner at third to score.
  • The Gamecocks again came up clutch in the fifth inning scoring all six of their runs on a pair of three-run homers after two were out. Will Craddock had the first one to center field, and Tyler Bak later haunted his former teammates with a three run shot to right center.
  • USC added two more runs in the sixth. The first came on an RBI single by Patrick Evans. The second followed after two outs with Erik Parker making third on a wild pitch and then scoring on a throwing error by the catcher.
  • The Gamecocks scored the game ending 11th run in the bottom of the seventh. With two outs and runners on first and second, Craddock singled down the right field line scoring KJ Scobey, who had led off the inning with a double.
  • Though the Gamecocks struck out 16 times, they were 8-14 with two outs, and had nine two-out RBIs. They also drew nine walks and were hit twice.
  • USC used the bullpen approach to pitching with six relievers getting into the game and allowing just two hits. Alex Vanlentin was the opener and earned his first win for the Gamecocks against two losses. He allowed one hit in his one inning of work.
  • Cooper Parks followed and pitched two innings. Riley Goodman worked one inning. Patrick Dudley faced two batters and struck out both. Josh Gregoire struck out three of his four hitters, and Elijah Foster finished up and allowed the second hit.
  • Bak was big against his former team with four hits and three runs batted in. Evans, Yuhasz and Craddock had two hits each.
  • The Gamecocks are 14-16 and will host Texas for a three game series starting Thursday night. Wofford is 19-10.
