Further clarity. That’s exactly what 2027 wide receiver Lawrence Britt (6-1, 178) of Memphis (TN) Lausanne Collegiate School got while attending Clemson’s “Elite Retreat” recently.
Britt is considered to be one of the top wideouts in the country, and despite being a late arrival to the party, Clemson appears to have plenty of momentum in his recruitment.
“That visit was much needed,” Britt divulged. “Clemson came in the last moment, one of the last teams that came in. It was a blessing, and I love what they’re doing over there.”
Britt has developed a strong relationship with Tyler Grisham since the Tigers began recruiting him. And he’s learned a lot about the Clemson program in their conversations.
“Coach Grisham loves to talk, and he loves to be engaged with his guys, and loves to pour into his guys, and that was really good,” Britt said. “I love what Coach Swinney’s doing and how they run their program, and it’s really a tradition-rich program. I really love what I saw, and it gives me something to think about over the coming couple of months.”
Britt sees himself as a dominant athlete on the field and loves how new offensive coordinator Chad Morris gets the ball in the hands of his best players.
“I got to see how he uses dynamite players in his offense,” he explained. “That’s the biggest thing, because I know I’m an athlete, and I move around a lot, so I can play outside, inside, running back, quarterback, and defense, but mainly an athlete on offense. I just saw the way that he uses players and is able to get them the ball in a dynamic way, so that was really important to me.”
He is hoping that further clarity will come after his official visits to Clemson, Missouri, and Texas Tech. Oklahoma and Ole Miss are still pushing, and he plans to visit Oxford on Friday, but a top three appears to be set. Another chance for Clemson to separate itself from the pack comes on May 29th when Britt travels to the Upstate for his official visit.
“Man, I think what I’m hoping to get is just to see everything,” the 2027 target revealed. “I didn’t really get a chance to see the dorms, the environment, life, but at the same time, we got a couple of schools, and we’re just trying to check all the boxes in each school.”
Last season, Britt had 44 catches for 696 yards and 12 touchdowns.
