#9-Southern California 71 — #8-Clemson 67 (F/OT — Game Summary)
- Saturday was the first ever meeting between the two schools in women’s basketball. The contest was also the first NCAA tournament game for Clemson since an 85-61 loss to Mississippi State in the “Round of 32” of the 2019 NCAA tournament
- After Mia Moore tied the game at 61-61 with :50 remaining in regulation, a series of held balls gave the possession back to Clemson with :04 left. Moore attempted a last-second three, which was good; that would have given Clemson the win. However, upon video review, it was deemed that Moore did not get the shot off in time, sending the game into overtime
- In the extra session, Southern Cal outscored Clemson 10-6 to pick up the win
- Jazzy Davidson was the difference maker for the Trojans. The 2025 McDonald’s “All-American” just missed her career high with 31 points while adding six rebounds and five assists
- Kara Dunn did what she could to help her teammate Davidson. Dunn finished with 22 points as SC placed three players in double figures.
- Both Davidson and Moore played all forty-five minutes of the game for their respective teams
- The contest featured 19 lead changes and seven ties, with neither team boasting more than a seven-point lead
- Clemson had four players score in double figures, with Taylor Johnson-Matthews leading the way with 16
- The Trojans will face top-seeded South Carolina on Monday in the second round. Southern Cal lost to USC 69-52 back in November
