The Anderson University (5-3, 3-3 SAC) football team fought hard in the first half but ultimately fell 28–6 to Carson-Newman (4-2, 3-2 SAC), who used a 21-0 advantage in the second half on Saturday afternoon at Melvin & Dollie Younts Stadium to shore up their win. Quarterback Tyler Wesley led the Trojans with 190 total yards, rushing for 79 yards and a touchdown while adding 111 passing yards.
Benedict 31-Edward Waters 27
Triston Morgan caught a 16-yard touchdown pass from Darius Ocean with just 29 seconds left in the game as the 24th-ranked Benedict College Tigers staged a game-winning drive to defeat Edward Waters 31-27 in a key SIAC matchup on Saturday. The win keeps Benedict (7-0 overall, 6-0 SIAC) undefeated and one step closer to a berth in the SIAC Ocean completed 17-of-33 passes for 268 yards and a pair of touchdowns. Morgan finished with 90 yards rushing and 40 yards receiving and scored two touchdowns.championship game.
Charleston Southern 29-Western Illinois 24
Charleston Southern collected their first conference win of 2025 on Saturday in Macomb, Illinois, taking down Western Illinois by a final score of 29-24. Zolten Osborne tossed for a career-high four touchdowns in the win finding Rashawn Cunningham and Jamil Bishop twice each to lead the Buccaneers to the win. Osborne finished the day going 14-26 for 262 yards and four touchdowns. Hakeem Watters collected 16 carries for 52 yards while Ke’Marion Baldwin had 10 rushed for 38 yards. Cunningham led the squad in receiving yards with 95 off four catches and two touchdowns. On the defensive end, Steve Zayachkowsky led the Buccaneers with 16 tackles, ten of which were solo stops.
Western Carolina 45-The Citadel 38
In spite of a 410-yard overall offensive performance in a back-and-forth slugfest, a late comeback effort for The Citadel (3-4, 2-2 SoCon) fell just one score short against SoCon frontrunner Western Carolina (5-3, 4-0 GSC), dropping a narrow 45-38 decision to the Catamounts on Saturday afternoon at Sansom Field at Johnson Hagood Stadium. Offensively, the unit generated a season-best 410 yards. The Bulldogs rushed for 278 yards with four touchdowns, while the passing game 132 yards on 5-of-9 through the air for one score. Cobey Thompkins impressed in both facets of the game, accounting for 111 passing yards for one TD on a 3-of-5 performance while also racking up 79 yards via 11 carries for another score as well; meanwhile, Quentin Hayes paced the rushing attack with 90 yards and two touchdowns while also posting a 2-of-4 outing for 21 yards through the air. For the running backs, Garrison Johnson Sr. led the group with 72 yards on seven carries, including a 55-yard gash up the middle late in the first quarter; Beau Herrington contributed a solid 24 yards with a touchdown on seven rushes as well.
Erskine 23-Shorter 19
The Erskine College football team (1-6, 1-2 CC) defeated Shorter University (1-7, 0-4 CC) by a score of 23-19 at Barron Stadium on Saturday for the Fleet’s first win of the season. Erskine fell behind 19-7 just before the half, but a Logan Coldren touchdown got the Fleet within five at the break, and the Erskine defense pitched a shutout in the second half as the Fleet rallied back for a road win and their first-ever Conference Carolinas victory. Late in the third quarter, Jo Burson found the end zone for a second time, this time via a 24-yard pass from Ryan Killmer to give the Fleet their first lead of the day. Christian Bridwell added a 24-yard field goal with six minutes remaining in the game to give the Fleet some cushion. The Fleet used three quarterbacks in the game, as the trio of Ryan Killmer, Breylon Boyd, and Ben Black totaled 175 yards through the air, with Killmer and Boyd each tallying a touchdown.
North Greenville 20-#19 UNC Pembroke 7
North Greenille’s defense forced four turnovers on Saturday carrying the Trailblazers to a 20 – 7 win over #19 UNC Pembroke in Younts Stadium. North Greenville’s defense held the Braves to 63 – yards on the ground and 300 – yards total with four turnovers. North Greenville had 413 yards of offense with quarterback Dylan Ramirez passing for 202 yards and two touchdowns and Deshawn Thompkins rushig for 107 yards. North Greenville is 4-3 overall and 4-0 in the conference.
Newberry 38-Mars Hill 24
Wolves quarterback Reed Charpia completed 23 of 37 passes for 291 yards and a touchdown, receiver Keith Desaussure caught 10 passes for 113 yards as Newberry College (6-1, 5-1) defeated Mars Hill 38-24 to move into sole possession of first place in the South Atlantic Conference. Newberry rushed for a season-high 194 yards and compiled a season best 485 yards of total offense. Quez Spells became the first player in Newberry College football history to have a rushing, receiving and kickoff return of 80 yards or more in one season when he caught a swing pass and turned it into an 82-yard score in the first quarter, his only catch of the game. The Wolves are ranked 24th this week and are 6-1 overall and 5-1 in the SAC.
Presbyterian 42-Stetson 7
Presbyterian College football team surpassed 40 points for the fourth consecutive home game on a picture-perfect Homecoming Saturday, improving to 7-0 with a 42-7 victory against the invading Stetson Hatters. In front of an electric crowd that eclipsed seven thousand spectators, the Blue Hose again pounced early and rode a three-score advantage into halftime. That lead grew to its largest point at 35, pushing PC’s winning streak to 11. Collin Hurst was 19-27 for 236 yards with one touchdown and one interception. Gill Cincere had six catches for 107 yards and a touchdown.
Wofford 31-Furman 13
Wofford scored first and never trailed in a 31-13 win over Furman on Saturday afternoon at Gibbs Stadium. The Terriers had a 21-6 lead at the half and added ten unanswered points in the fourth quarter for the third-straight win in the series. The defense came up with three interceptions, including a pick-six by Javario Tinch, as they held the Paladins to only two touchdowns. Wofford opens the season at 2-5 and 1-2 in the Southern Conference, while Furman is 4-3 overall and 2-2 in the league. J.T. Fayard, in his second career start for the Terriers, was 18-of-25 passing for 179 yards and two touchdowns. Terrance Honeywood and Colby Alexander had receiving touchdowns, while Ihson Jackson-Anderson added a rushing touchdown. The Paladins were led by Trey Hedden with 27-of-39 passing for 257 yards and a touchdown.
