“I feel like Carolina is home. That’s not really going to change. I’ve been thinking for a long time,” Howse said at the time of his commitment.
Howse added that several factors played into his decision.
“The coaches. It’s close to home. The fan base is amazing. That’s what attracted me a lot.”
Some of his other offers at the time of his commitment were Virginia Tech, UCF, Coastal Carolina, Cincinnati, West Virginia, Liberty and USF.
Howse, who was selected for the Shrine Bowl team, is also a standout basketball player for the Bulldogs. His defection leaves the Gamecocks with 15 commitments and one tight end.
