#CCU gets in one final workout before Monday’s Myrtle Beach Bowl matchup with UTSA (AUDIO)

A year ago, the Chanticleers won the Hawai’i Bowl. Monday, they’ll try and protect their home turf against UTSA

Conway, S.C. — There’s an old adage football coaches use to signal the end of a week’s practice: “The hay is in the barn.” If that’s not easy enough to understand, the basic premise is that all of the preparation is complete for the upcoming game, and now it’s time to go play. CCU and UTSA have each closed the door on their respective barns.

On a bright, cool Sunday afternoon at Brooks Stadium in Conway, each team held its final walk-through in advance of Monday’s 5th Annual Myrtle Beach Bowl. It will be the first-ever meeting between the two 6-6 teams, with kickoff set for just after 11 am on ESPN. And despite the game taking place on CCU’s home turf, the Chanticleers will be the designated visiting team for the matchup.

After Coastal’s final workout, SportsTalk caught up with head coach Tim Beck and projected starting quarterback Tad Hudson. The redshirt freshman, who transferred to CCU after spending one season at UNC, is making his first start at QB for the Chanticleers.
