South Carolina is retooling its defensive line for 2025 due to the expected departures from this year’s team, and Wednesday the Gamecocks signed DT Christian Ingram (6-6 280) of Covington, GA. Ingram chose the Gamecocks over Southern Cal, Kentucky and Michigan, the other schools where me made official visits.
Clemson, Alabama, Florida, Auburn, Georgia and Florida State were some of the other offers for Ingram who actually committed to USC coach Shane Beamer and defensive line coach Travian Robertson earlier in the week. .Beamer and Robertson had some catching up to do in recruiting In;gram because their offer did not come until early October.
“Their message to me is that they need a a player like me,” Ingram said. “I see how well they are doing, and the only group they are losing people in is the D-line. They need guys to come in and make an impact early and they think I can do that. With my skillset and Coach T-Rob’s experience, they think I can come in and make a major impact as a true freshman like Dylan Stewart and be a very productive player for them and play across the whole D-line.”
Ingram joins Caleb Williams as the two defensive tackle signees for the class which now numbers 23.
