The decommitment bug bit Clemson Friday night when OG Jaylan Beckley (6-4 290) of Addison, TX announced on his X page that he was backing off his pledge to the Tigers he made in January following a junior day visit. In making his announcement, Beckley first thanked head coach Dabo Swinney, lead recruiter Garrett Riley and the entire coaching staff.
“There are so many people that took the time to recruit me and made a sincere effort to build a relationship with me and my family,” Beckley wrote. “I met some incredible people at Clemson, including the other recruits, awesome Clemson fans, reporters and more.”
Beckley continued that he took some time to reflect on his decision, pray about it and discuss things over with his family.
“I’ve decided I need more time to make this very big decision about where I will spend the next three to five years for my college career,” he wrote. “The final decision was mine alone, and I do not take it lightly. I’m extremely blessed to have some incredible opportunities ahead. My recruitment is officially reopened.”
Beckley was one of three offensive line commitments for the Tigers. His departure leaves them with 10 commitments in the 2025 class.
