#STRecruiting Notebook 12-4

Former Vanderbilt WR Jayden McGowan, a Laurens native, landed an offer from USC Monday, and he has set an official visit with the Gamecocks for this coming weekend. Since announcing his transfer plans, the speedy McGowan has also picked up an offer from Indiana. The 5-8 McGowan started 18 of 24 games in his two seasons in Nashville. He finished with 80 catches for 836 yards and three touchdowns. In two games against USC, he totaled five catches for 23 yards.

USC is among several P5 offers to come in today for Kansas State transfer CB Will Lee III (6-3 185). This season he had 42 tackles and one interception.

USC offered Tennessee Tech transfer DB Gerald Kilgore (6-0 202). He’s the brother of Gamecock safety Jalon Kilgore. This season he had 37 tackles with 5 pass break ups. He’s from Eatonton, GA.

USC offered Arkansas State transfer LB Javante Mackey (6-2 230). He’s a native of Chicago but went to high school in Memphis. This season he had 84 tackles with seven tackles for loss and two sacks. He’s also picked up offers from Memphis and Mississippi State since entering the Portal.

USC offered Purdue transfer DE Khordae Sydnor (6-4 230). He’s a native of Harlem who played in 24 games over two seasons with the Boilermakers. He totaled 27 tackles with nine tackles for loss and 6.5 sacks. He’s also picked up offers from SMU, Memphis, NC State, Cincinnati, Cal and Vanderbilt.

Southern Miss transfer OT Gerquan Scott said Sunday he will be taking an official visit to USC December 12th-14th. Scott made an official visit to Ole Miss this past weekend. He plans to visit Auburn this coming weekend. He will make his decision from those three once the visits are complete. Scott is a grad-transfer. He’s a native of Mobile, AL and redshirted in 2019 as a freshman, became a starter in 2020 and remained a starter at left guard for the Golden Eagles the rest of his career with them, though he did start two games at center this season. He started 40 of 45 games with Southern Miss.

USC is expected to be one of the schools to pursue Miami transfer RB Don Chaney Jr. His father played for the Gamecocks, and they recruited him out of high school. In 25 games with Miami, he rushed for 852 yards and 6 touchdowns.

USC offered Purdue transfer WR Abdur-Rahmaan Yaseen (6-2 200). He spent four years in West Lafayette and caught 34 passes for 356 yards and no touchdowns. He also has offers from Liberty, Bowling Green, ECU, Mississippi State, Washington State, Michigan State, Vanderbilt, Eastern Michigan, Ball State and Minnesota. He’s a native of Southfield, MI.

USC also offered Michigan State transfer receiver Christian Fitzpatrick (6-4 220) according to Allen Trieu of 247Sports. In three seasons with the Spartans, he played in 28 games and caught 22 passes for 272 yards and one touchdown. Fitzpatrick began his career at Louisville. He’s a native of Southfield, MI.

FIU transfer WR Kris Mitchell, who’s getting interest from USC, visited Notre Dame over the weekend.

Transfer OT Alan Herron of Shorter University said he has set an official visit to Clemson for December 15th. He made an official visit to Texas Tech over the weekend. Auburn, Miami, Penn State and UCF are other recent offers for Herron.

USC players officially announcing transfer plans over the weekend and Monday were WR Juice Wells, QB Colten Gauthier, DB Kajuan Banks and PK Mitch Jeter., DE Donovan Westmoreland, WR Kylic Horton, DT Felix Hixon, OL Jondarius Morgan and DB Isaiah Norris.

WR Debron Gatling of Alpharetta, GA, who has been committed to Texas A&M, posts he’s now 100% open, but in a follow up post he said this was not a decommitment. He made an official visit to USC last month.

Former USC commitment LB Jaishawn Barham transferring from Maryland.

Summerville product Liberty QB Johnathan Bennett is transferring from Liberty.

Georgia State transfer RB KZ Adams was offered by SC State.

Fort Mill DB Landon Kurtz has accepted a PWO offer from USC.

Greer WR Chase Byrd has accepted a PWO offer from Clemson.

Irmo RB Jaden Allen-Hendrix (6-2 225) was offered by Oklahoma State. He will play in the Touchstone Energy Cooperatives Bowl this Saturday. Allen-Hendrix, who also plays running back, rushed for 2215 yards and 25 touchdowns this season. He also has offers from UTC, Richmond, Charlotte, SC State, Wofford, Citadel, Bryant, North Carolina Central, Howard and North Carolina A&T.
