#STRecruiting: #Clemson lands commitment from highly touted point guard

Del Jones

Clemson fans may be down in the dumps over their football team this week, but basketball coach Brad Brownell gave them some reason to smile Monday night with an announced commitment from 6-1 PG Del Jones, a native of Arlington, VA who attends school in the Phoenix suburb of Phoenix. Jones made his official visit to Clemson in September and said Brownell and his staff just did the best job recruiting him.

“They just showed a lot of consistency,” Jones said during his announcement via 247Sports. “Just taking the visit, it felt like home from the jump. Talking with coach Brownell, we had great talks and I just feel like it’s the best fit for me.”

Jones added that Clemson fans will love his style of play.

“A flashy point guard that can score and pass it,” said Jones who was also described as tough and fast.

Jones chose the Tigers from a final five that also included Arizona State, Oregon, Tennessee and West Virginia. Along with Clemson, Jones also took visits to Arizona State and Tennessee.

Jones played for Team Durant last summer on the EYBL circuit and averaged over 10 points and four assists per game.

Brownell now has three commitments for this 2024 class. The others are 6-9 Dallas Thomas of Little Rock, AR and 6-1 Ace Buckner of La Porte, IN.
