Clemson began bowl practice Sunday and was back at it Tuesday afternoon preparing for the matchup with Tennessee in the Orange Bowl. Prior to practice Tuesday, head coach Dabo Swinney met with the media and shared two major pieces of news affecting his defense.

First, starting defensive end Myles Murphy has decided not to play in the game and will move on to the NFL Draft. And second, starting linebacker Trent Simpson will miss the game with an ankle injury he reaggravated in the ACC Championship Game. Swinney also said Simpson will be releasing some news soon about his future plans.

Murphy was an immediate contributor when he arrived at Clemson for the 2020 season. He played in 35 games in his career and finished with 116 tackles, 36 tackles for loss and 18.5 sacks.
