Anglin returns to form as #Clemson wallops GA Tech 9-3 (AUDIO)

Mack Anglin struck out eight Yellow Jackets in Clemson’s win on Friday (Clemson Athletics)

Clemson needed a good start from right handed pitcher Mack Anglin on Friday and the redshirt sophomore delivered. Anglin worked a career-high seven innings, striking out eight and allowing three runs to lead the Tigers to a 9-3 victory over Georgia Tech at Doug Kingsmore Stadium. A week after giving up thirty-five runs in a weekend sweep at Louisville, the six run victory was just what the doctor ordered. Especially considering that the Yellow Jackets were tied for seventh nationally having scored 418 runs entering the wekend.

Anglin wasn’t the only Clemson player with a breakout game as seven Tigers collected at least one base hit with Bryar Hawkins leading the way with a double and two RBIs. Hawkins 3-for-5 night was his most productive since delivering three hits in a win over Hartford on February 26th. Jonathan French hit his sixth homer of the year, while Will Taylor made his Tiger baseball debut. The freshman, who suffered a torn ACL while playing for the Clemson football team in early October, picked up a single on his first plate appearance and scored a run.

Clemson improved to 29-17 overall and 7-14 in the ACC with the victory, while Georgia Tech fell to 27-19 on the season and 12-13 in the league. The series continues Saturday at 3pm on ACC Network Extra.
