#STRecruiting: Four-star SAF Keon Sabb commits to #Clemson

Keon Sabb

Clemson Saturday afternoon gained a commitment from four-star SAF Keon Sabb (6-3 195) of Williamston, NJ and IMG Academy in Florida. Sabb is ranked 60th nationally among all prospects in the 247Sports Composite. and is ranked #6 among athletes. He chose Clemson over Penn State, Georgia, Michigan, Texas A&M and LSU.

“They are a national championship team,” Sabb said after announcing his commitment on CBS Sports HQ. “Coach (Dabo) Swinney has a good relationship with me. I had a really good time down there (on June visit.) Me and my family felt like it was home.”

In June, Sabb attended the Clemson Elite Retreat. He also took official visits to Penn State, Georgia, Michigan and Texas A&M. After his June visit to Clemson, Sabb said he was blown away by the way Swinney and his staff handle their players.

“They probably have the most genuine coaching staff I’ve met,” Sabb said. “They explain their program really well.  I fell in love with the place.  I love all the coaches.  I love everything about it.  Like how different they are.  They don’t recruit like every other school does.  Like how they don’t take transfers.  That stuck out to me.  They ride with the guys they’ve got.”

During the recruiting process, Clemson defensive coordinator Brent Venables and safeties coach Mickey Conn laid out their plans for him. He was intrigued with what they told him.

“I got a couple of comparisons to Isiah Simmons, that they would utilize me in that type of way,” Sabb said. “They say I can cover the field pretty well, really fast.  I can cover a lot of space.”

Sabb is the first of two potential Clemson commitments Saturday from IMG. Cornerback Daylen Everette is to announce his decision at 5:00 PM. The Tigers are piecing together another heralded class, something Sabb noticed earlier in the summer.

“That’s going to be a pretty nice class, I think top five, top three when it gets all done.  All the rumors I’ve heard with a lot of other players,” Sabb said.  “That’s pretty intriguing to me with all those top guys going there.”

Another of Sabb’s IMG teammates and fellow New Jerseyan DE Jihaad Campbell also is part of the Clemson commitment class which now numbers nine.
