Anglin cools off Cavs in #Clemson 6-1 win (AUDIO)

Freshman starter Mack Anglin allowed one hit over six innings as Clemson defeated Virginia 6-1 Friday afternoon in the opening game of their weekend series at Doug Kingsmore Stadium. Anglin struck out six and did not walk a batter. 50 of his 71 pitches went for strikes. He improved to 1-1 on the season.

Mat Clark pitched the final three innings to pick up his second save. He scattered four hits and allowed the Cavaliers lone run.

The Tigers scored all the runs they needed in the third. James Parker drove in the first run with a bases loaded ground out to second. With two outs, Adam Hackenburg delivered a two run single for a 3-0 lead. The Tigers added two more runs in the fourth on RBI singles from Eli Henderson and Parker. Kier Meredith accounted for the Tigers’ final run with an eighth inning single.

The Tigers have won eight of their last ten ACC games. They are 15-11 overall and 9-7 in the ACC. Game two of the series will be Saturday at 7:00 PM.
