If you thought the undefeated Gamecocks may suffer a letdown after wrapping up another conference title earlier this week, think again. No. 1 South Carolina turned the lights out early with a 103-55 victory over Kentucky at Rupp Arena, Sunday.
Bree Hall led six Gamecocks in double figures with 18 points. Milaysia Fulwiley backed up Hall with 17 points and didn’t miss at the stripe, sinking all twelve of her free throw attempts. South Carolina was hitting on all cylinders, shooting 64% from the floor, 67% from beyond the arc and 90% from the foul line. USC’s offense was crisp throughout as five Gamecocks finished with four or more assists. South Carolina totaled 30 assists on 38 field goals and dominated the paint 52-24.
USC scored 19 seconds into the game and never trailed, holding Kentucky to 29% shooting in the first half and 34% for the game.
Chloe Kitts had a terrific all-around game with 10 points, a game-high 12 rebounds and five assists. Sania Feagin (16 points), Ashlyn Watkins (12 points) and Te-Hina Paopao also finished in double figures.
Leading scorer Kamilla Cardoso didn’t play for the second game in a row following her return from Brazil.
South Carolina (27-0, 14-0) has just two regular season games remaining. The Gamecocks will pay a visit to Arkansas, Thursday, before closing out the conference slate at home against Tennessee next Sunday. Thursday’s tipoff from Fayetteville, Ark., is scheduled for 9 p.m.
