The #Gamecocks are hoping to go from “Sweet” to “Elite” (AUDIO)

The roster may look a bit different, but the standard remains the same in Columbia. For the 10th consecutive season, the South Carolina women’s basketball team has advanced to the NCAA tournament “Sweet 16,” where the Gamecocks will face Indiana on Friday afternoon at 5 p.m. in Albany, New York. Top-seeded USC is 34-0 after blowing past Presbyterian and North Carolina by a combined score of 179-80 in the first two rounds of the tournament.

Expectations are that things will get tougher over the weekend, though the Gamecocks are still a double-digit favorite versus the Hoosiers. The winner will face either #2 Notre Dame or #3 Oregon State in the “Elite Eight” on Sunday.

On Thursday, head coach Dawn Staley met with the media to talk about her team’s return to the regional semifinals and to preview Carolina’s sixth all-time meeting with Indiana.
