There won’t be a full depth chart released by South Carolina this week. Head coach Shane Beamer confirmed as much Tuesday at his press conference previewing Saturday’s home opener against Kent State, adding that several jobs — including the starting kicker — remain unsettled just days out from kickoff.
One job that isn’t in question is under center. LaNorris Sellers is back for his third year as the starter, having thrown for 5,057 yards and 33 touchdowns across his Gamecock career.
This will mark just the second meeting between the two programs. South Carolina beat Kent State 77-14 back in 1995. Oddsmakers expect a similarly lopsided result Saturday, with the Gamecocks favored by roughly 36.5 points and the over/under set near 53.5.
South Carolina hosts Kent State Saturday, Sept. 5, at 12:45 p.m. from Williams-Brice Stadium. The game airs on SEC Network.
