Comments from Shane Beamer’s Conference Call
- Comes down to one play on offense, defense, or special teams, if they make they win the game, otherwise they dominated, except turnover battle, that’s killing them.
- No moral victories, weren’t good enough for 60 minutes, have to build on the good things, no doubt they are a better team than they were a week ago.
- Q Scott had to go to the hospital after the game, has been released, see what his status is for Florida later n the week.
- Thinks for the most part Harbor has been good, needs to play fast and free, had some plays last night he’d like to have back.
- Harbor does a good job with perimeter blocking, he works hard, he was targeted nine times last night and will continue to try to get him the ball.
- Proud of the response by Coleman, he owned the fumble, apologized to the team, wanted to ride Fuller last night, Coleman didn’t return to RB after fumble but he played on special teams.
- No update on Dylan Stewart, visited with him today, keeping the content of that meeting between them.
- They are in a rut right now where they get ahead and aren’t finishing, but his overall record when they score first is good.
- They’ve been talking about playing Swain on offense since July, after Mississippi State he and Briles talked about finding playmakers, they really miss Jaden Sellers, Bennett played great last night, just need another playmaker with ball in his hands.
- Need to affect opposing quarterbacks more, did get three sacks, but need to bring the pass rushers along and find ways to get in on the quarterback.
- Had too many drops last night, they counted six by the way they count, need to be able to help the quarterback out, didn’t do that last night.
- Asked if there’s any chance Stewart can return to practice this week and thus play vs Florida, Beamer repeated his earlier comment that there is no update on the status and will announce when there is.
