Key Comments from Shane Beamer Conference Call
- Special night. Proud of his team and how they played. It was a gritty game, and they have a gritty team; they continue to play and find a way. It was a physical game. Thought they played physically against the run.
- They found a way to win it in the fourth quarter. They finished.
- The win was huge for recruiting, had a ton of prospects in for the game, it set up perfect in recruiting and expects a payout for years to come.
- Thought defense did well and tackled well; needed to start fast on offense, which they did; no quit in his group.
- It wasn’t great but did what they need to win, end of the first half was pitiful, they’ve got to run the ball better, but a great win and happy for a lot of people.
- Everyone is in good shape coming out of a physical game like that one.
- Told Swain he’s got to play for the team, and he knows that. He was matched up with a really good receiver; he let early contact lead into the next play, and he can’t do that. Got to play the technique.
- Saw a warrior in Bennett last night. Made a tough, competitive catch on the fourth-down throw; his leadership has been outstanding. Proud of him for taking the hit he took late and jumping back up.
- Miller was available but not healthy enough to play; the best thing was to give him another week. Hay has been playing very well at center, and Peak is playing at a high level as well.
- On the field storming, he’s just trying to coach the team and win games; the SEC has rules and he appreciates the passion of the fans.
- Thought the defense played with more physicality and effort in the second half, he was disappointed with how they handled the last two minutes of the first half.
- Hasn’t watched the Sellers touchdown as many times as you might think, but he has looked at it multiple times.
