It was a long night in Athens for the USC football team and quite the early morning on Sunday, as Shane Beamer and his coaching staff tried to pull some positives from the 40-13 loss at Georgia.
On Sunday night, Beamer met with the media for his weekly teleconference to recap the matchup with the Bulldogs and to turn the page towards Kentucky; a week that Beamer notes is a big one for his program. The Gamecocks head coach also took full responsibility for the final moments of the opening half in which Georgia recorded a safety and set themselves up for a mid-range field goal to assume full control of the game.
“We had made some plays in the passing game and we thought that might be an opportunity to hit a big play on them. I, not Marcus Satterfield, I told Marcus to take a shot,” Beamer stated in explaining the decision to try and throw off the one yard line, which resulted in a Doty sack and safety. “I gave Georgia five points.”
