STRecruiting: South Carolina is the current favorite of a Virginia cornerback, and he’s visiting Williams-Brice on Saturday

There won’t be a large group of uncommitted recruits on hand for South Carolina’s opener on Saturday against Kent State, but there will be some who were specifically invited to attend. One of those is 2028 CB Tyrone Miller Jr. (6-1, 170) of Richmond, VA.

South Carolina secondary coach Torrian Gray has done some heavy recruiting in the Richmond area over the years for the Gamecocks, and two of Miller’s teammates, 2027 WR Iveon Lewis and 2028 WR Jhamari Cain, have already committed.

Miller called the Gamecocks his current favorite, and may be trending in that direction.

“Maybe it’ll happen this weekend,” Miller said. “I’ve got a great relationship with one of the recruiters I’ve been talking to. I’ve been liking South Carolina for a little while now. “As you know, both my friends are committed there, so I like them too. Coach Gray has been telling me to stay focused and get ready for this week. We got a big game coming up this week, and I’m coming down there this Saturday for the game versus Kent State.”

That will be Miller’s first game at USC, though he has been down for a camp, where Gray got a good look at him.

“He likes that I was physical, nice feet, and I could really play anywhere,” Miller said. “I could go to the slot and cover people, go outside and cover people. And I like the way they’re an aggressive team. I like that as somebody who likes to play aggressive too. And I like the community and coaching around there, and the fans. It’s just all around great there.”

Miller is definitely excited about his first live game at USC, and he wants to use this visit to judge just how much Gray and Shane Beamer want him in the program.

“I feel like they’ve got to put the emphasis that they want me here,” Miller said. “I’m trying to wait and see who wants me the most and who pushes to get me to their school.”

Miller said some of the other schools of interest to him include Florida State, Virginia, Wake Forest, Syracuse, Virginia Tech, and NC State. He also has offers from Indiana, Tennessee, USF, Wake Forest, Boston College, SMU, Penn State, East Carolina, Liberty, UConn, Coastal Carolina and Temple.
