#STRecruiting: #Gamecocks lose a key commitment in CB Braydon Lee

For the second time in recent years, Maryland flipped a commitment from USC on Signing Day. Two years ago, it was linebacker Jaishawn Barham of Baltimore who left the Gamecocks waiting at the altar. This time it was CB Braydon Lee of Springdale who pulled the switcheroo.

Lee made an official visit to Maryland the weekend of December 8th, and that fueled the speculation over a change of heart. But the USC coaches went in for a visit the following week, and Lee appeared to be back in their corner.

Lee made his commitment to the Gamecocks in April a few days after attending the spring game. He was viewed as a significant commitment as the Gamecocks beat out the likes of Notre Dame, North Carolina, Alabama, Tennessee, Pitt, Penn State, Ohio State, Georgia and Maryland for his verbal pledge. He is considered one of the top cover corners in this year’s class. 

Lee gave the Gamecocks a good luck throughout the process. He visited for a game in 2022, a junior day in January, the spring game in April and a game this past October.

Lee’s departure from the class leaves the Gamecocks with a total of 25 newcomers and one cornerback in Jalewis Solomon.
