The revolving door of the Transfer Portal propelled one to USC on Thursday and sucked one out of the Gamecock program. Announcing a commitment to the Gamecocks was OC Torricelli Simpkins (6-5 320) of North Carolina Central. Bowing out of the program after a short time in it was TE Brady Hunt of Ball State who is now bound for Texas A&M according to GamecockCentral.
Simpkins, a Charlotte native, was the best offensive lineman in the MEAC last season. He was named the league’s Offensive Lineman of the Year as well as a third team FCS All-American. He also had offers from East Carolina and Colorado State once he hit the Portal.

- Named to the The Bluebloods 2023 FCS Preseason All-American Team as a third team honoree on the offensive line.
- Announced to the 2024 Reese’s Senior Bowl Watchlist.
2022 – SOPHOMORE SEASON
- Earned All-MEAC First Team honors, starting all 12 games at center for the No. 1 scoring offense and total offense in the MEAC.
- Two-time MEAC Offensive Lineman of the Week.
- Topped NCCU with an astonishing 81 pancake blocks, an average of 6.8 per game.
- Ranked second on the squad with an average grade of 85.3%.
2021 – FRESHMAN SEASON
- Started all 11 games in first college season.
- Named MEAC Offensive Lineman of the Week for his performance in a win at Howard (Nov. 13).
- Announced to the 2021 Phil Steele FCS All-MEAC Third Team.
Hunt committed to the Gamecocks on December 17th after visiting them the prior weekend. But according to GamecockCentral, Hunt’s former position coach at Ball State was hired by new Texas A&M coach Mike Elko and that led to the flip.
