Dawn Staley addressed the media, Saturday, roughly 24 hours before South Carolina is scheduled to square off with Iowa for the National Championship in Cleveland, Oh. Staley fielded questions about how it feels to reach the title game undefeated, what she thinks the legacy of Hawkeyes star Caitlin Clark will be and the importance of the matchup between post players Kamilla Cardoso and Hannah Stuelke.
Staley will look to lead the Gamecocks to their third championship when they take on Iowa at 3 p.m., Sunday.
EDITOR’S NOTE: There were also some questions posed to Staley at Saturday’s press conference that didn’t directly pertain to Sunday’s Championship Game. Among those was a question about the possibility of transgender athletes competing in women’s athletics. The exchange between Staley and Outkick’s Dan Zaksheske is included below.
