South Carolina dominated Vanderbilt from start to finish to claim an 82-54 victory in Nashville, Sunday. MiLaysia Fulwiley diced up the Commodores defense for 24 points on 10 of 15 shooting. Fulwiley started fast, scoring nine points in the first quarter in just six minutes of floor time.
The Gamecocks, ranked sixth nationally, also displayed their superior brand of defense, limiting Vanderbilt to 30% shooting from the floor while forcing 17 turnovers. Much of USC’s offense started with its pressure defense as the Gamecocks outscored the Commodores 19-0 in fast break points.
Te-Hina Paopao backed Fulwiley’s strong game with 15 points and Joyce Edwards grabbed a game-high 12 rebounds to go with her 17 points.
South Carolina (25-3, 13-1) has two conference games remaining, starting with a trip to Ole Miss. Tipoff from Oxford, Miss., is set for 9 p.m., Thursday.
