Petry’s power, five-hit pitching lead #Gamecocks to 11-4 win over Miami of Ohio (AUDIO)

USC outfielder Ethan Petry hit a pair of solo home runs, and five Gamecock pitchers scattered five hits as the Gamecocks defeated Miami of Ohio 11-4 Saturday for their second win is as many games on the new season.

The Gamecocks did the bulk of their damage with a four run second inning and a five run fifth. In the second, Tyler Causey had an RBI double, Dylan Brewer a sac fly, Will Tippett an RBI single to third and Blake Jackson an RBI single through the middle.

Petry hit his first home run in the third inning to centerfield, then followed with a blast in the fifth inning to right center. Later in the inning, Brewer and Tippett drew bases loaded walks and Jackson deliver a two-run single up the middle.

Dylan Eskew started on the mound for USC and earned the victory. He allowed one hit and one run over five innings. He struck out six and walked four. The relievers kept the Redhawks off the board the rest of the way except for three runs in the eighth.
