Gamecocks head basketball coach Lamont Paris held a press conference, Monday, sharing his insight on how his club is coming together ahead of the 2025-26 season.
Paris has added some pieces through recruiting and the transfer portal, but he’s equally excited about the nucleus of players that helped USC to a 26-8 record last season. But the Gamecocks did lose veteran leaders Meechie Johnson, Ta’Lon Cooper and BJ Mack.
Among the returnees is 2024 all-SEC Freshman team member Collin Murray-Boyles. Murray-Boyles emerged as a scoring threat during conference play, posting double-figures in scoring against Arkansas (twice), Ole Miss (twice), Georgia, Auburn, LSU, Florida, Miss. State, Tennessee and a career-high 31 vs. Vanderbilt. Paris is encouraging the sophomore to be even more aggressive and further develop his go-to moves.
The Gamecocks have also welcomed highly-touted freshman Cam Scott (Lexington HS). Paris said Scott “is an incredible listener” with a “thirst for knowledge and getting better.”
