South Carolina is all geeked up about their Tuesday night matchup with Kentucky at the Colonial Life Arena. After their win at Arkansas Saturday, the players went to coach Lamont Paris and asked if they could wear their black unis and ask the fans for a blackout setting. Both requests were approved, so the atmosphere should be dynamic.
Atmosphere alone, however, won’t be enough to derail the Wildcats who lead the nation in scoring at nearly 92 points per game. The Gamecocks will have to be at their defensive best and solid on the backboards to make it two in a row over the Cats. Remember, last season they went into Rupp Arena and stunned Kentucky 71-68 behind 26 points from Meechie Johnson.
Paris, who is going for his first career win over a top 25 team, met with the media Monday afternoon following practice and gave his thoughts on what he hopes will be an exciting night for his program.
