South Carolina added a national name from the Transfer Portal last month in former Arkansas running back Rocket Sanders. Sanders was one of the nation’s top running backs in 2022 before injures slowed him last season. A healthy Sanders will give the Gamecock running game a major boost in 2024.
Another running back to join the Gamecocks through the Portal in January was the less heralded Oscar Adaway III from North Texas State. In four seasons with the Mean Green, Adaway rushed for 1935 yards and 14 touchdowns.
Adaway, a native of Little Rock, AR, came to USC for a chance to show what he could do at the SEC level, and he’s looking forward to competing against, and working with, the others in the running back room. Earlier this week, Adaway talked his past and his future with SportsTalk.
