#Gamecocks no-hit Miami Ohio in 14-0 run-rule victory (AUDIO)

Founders Park: Five South Carolina pitchers combined for the program’s first no-hitter in 11 years, and the Gamecocks completed a three game sweep of Miami of Ohio Sunday afternoon with a 14-0 win. The game was called after the Redhawks were retired in the top of the seventh due to the 10-run rule the coaches had agreed to prior to the game.

Roman Kimball, in his first apperance since Tommy John surgery and his transfer from Notre Dame, earned the victory after working the first two innings. He struck out five and walked three. He was on a pitch count and threw 40 pitches.

Ty Good, Tyler Pitzer, Parker Marlatt and Tyler Dean followed Kimball to the mound and completed the eighth no-no in program history. They combined to strike out four and walk one.

The Gamecocks scored seven runs in the bottom of the first on only two hits. They drew six walks and had another batter reach on an error. Dylan Brewer had a two run single, and Will Tippett, Blake Jackson and Parker Noland drew bases loaded walks. A sac fly by Cole Messina and an error by the third baseman on a ground ball from Ethan Petry accounted for the other two runs.

USC added five more runs in the fourth inning. Gavin Casas drove in two with a single, Petry was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded and Messina delivered a two run single.

The Gamecocks closed out the scoring in the sixth with a RBI doiuble from Carson Hornung and sac fly by David Cromer.

USC will play five home games this coming week beginning with a Tuesday contest against Winthrop. They will face Queens on Wednesday and Belmont this weekend.
