Dawn Staley recaps #Gamecocks 80-68 win over Mississippi State (AUDIO)

Mississippi State was a late substitute for Ole Miss on the USC women’s schedule, but that didn’t throw the top-ranked Gamecocks off schedule. Bouncing back from their overtime loss at Missouri, the Gamecocks handled the Bulldogs 80-68 Sunday night in Columbia. The win improved the Gamecocks to 13-1 overall and 1-1 in the SEC with a game Thursday night at LSU next on the agenda.

Zia Cooke rebounded from a tough shooting night at Missouri to lead USC with 18 points. Aliyah Boston notched another double-double with 16 points and 11 rebounds. Point guard Destanni Henderson had 14 rebounds and 11 assists.

The Gamecocks used an 18-8 second quarter run to open up a close game. They led 45-35 at the half and increased the lead to 20 points in the third quarter.
