Bahama Breeze: USC MBB rolls through the Bahamian National Team 86-46 to wrap up a 2-0 trip to the islands (AUDIO)

Release from USC: South Carolina Men’s Basketball used a suffocating defensive effort on its way to an 86-46 win over The Bahamas National Team to close out the Baha Mar Hoops Summer League.

The Gamecocks held The Bahamas to 23.7 percent from the field, allowing just 18 field goals and forcing 14 turnovers. The Garnet & Black finished the game at 49.2 percent, connecting on 30-of-61 attempts including 11-of-29 from deep.

For the second consecutive game, ball distribution was on full display by South Carolina. The Gamecocks finished with 25 assists on their 30 made baskets, led by Kory Mincy’s seven assists to go along with 15 points and four rebounds.

The Gamecocks benefited from a pair of lengthy runs with one in each half. During the opening 20 minutes, South Carolina used a 26-11 run over an 11-minute stretch to see its lead grow from two points to 17 with 3:31 left in the half. The Gamecocks led by 17 at the break and then opened the second half on a 24-11 spurt to stretch the lead to 63-33, all but icing the game en route to a 40-point victory.

Aleksas Bieliauskas joined Mincy in double figures, scoring 14 points and adding six boards in the process. Jakub Nečas padded the stat sheet with eight points, 11 boards and six assists in 21 minutes of action.

Grant Polk played valuable minutes off the bench with 28 minutes, knocking down a trio of threes, complimented by six rebounds and four assists. Juan Fernández and Hayden Assemian each added eight points, with Assemian grabbing six boards and Fernández pulling down five rebounds.
