STRecruiting Notebook 6-5: Another Clemson OL target to announce Thursday PM; Perry-Wright sets his date

Clemson target OT Carter Scruggs will announce today at 6:30 PM. He is coming off his official visit to Clemson, the only OV he’s taken. He was scheduled to visit Penn State, Michigan and Georgia.

DE Bryce Perry-Wright of Buford, GA will announce his commitment on July 4th with Clemson, Texas, Miami and Texas A&M the finalists.

South Carolina basketball freshman Eli Ellis hinting that Gamecocks have picked up a commitment: “This is going to be a good one. Better lock in gamecock fans!!! We have some great years of men’s bball ahead of us,” Ellis posted on his X page.

South Carolina women are in the top ten with 6-2 Jacy Abii of Frisco, TX. The others on her list are UCLA, LSU, North Carolina, Texas, Notre Dame, Connecticut, Tennessee, Duke and TCU.

According to Andrew Riedell of College Baseball Cental, Sun Belt Freshman of the Year Appalachian State transfer SS Tyler Lichtenberger reportedly is visiting Clemson today. This season he hit .345 with 3 homers and 38 RBIs.

Crescent WR Amiri Acker (6-2 186) visited South Carolina last Friday and talked with head coach Shane Beamer and receivers coach Mike Furrey. They like him but have not offered. But they invited him to come to camp on Thursday, and he’ll be there to show off his skills in hopes of earning a scholarship from the Gamecocks. He also performed at the Clemson camp on Wednesday seeking an offer from the Tigers as well. Acker is scheduled for an official visit to Kentucky this weekend, but he said that could change with an offer from USC and an invite to visit this weekend. He is scheduled to visit Liberty June 13th.

SAF Joey O’Brien has a final four of Clemson, Notre Dame Penn State and Oregon and will announce on June 20th. He visited Clemson last weekend. He has dropped Tennessee and Ohio State from his earlier list.

Clemson offered punter Mikey Bukauskas of Prosper, TX, after a private workout with him inside Death Valley on Tuesday. He’s ranked the #2 punter nationally by Kohl’s Kicking. Bukauskas said he’s down to Clemson and Texas. He will visit Texas this weekend and will make a return trip to Clemson for an official visit. After those visits, he will make his decision.

Clemson offered 2027 OT Peyton Miller (6-5 290) of Anna, TX. He was in for a camp session on Wednesday. Some of his other offers include Stanford, Duke, Arizona, Texas, Virginia Tech, Kansas, Georgia Tech, Arizona State, Missouri, Kansas State and Oklahoma State.

Clemson offered 2027 OT Carter Jones (6-6 290) OF Poquoson, VA while in camp on Wednesday. South Carolina is also among his offers. Some of the others are Florida State, Wisconsin, Ohio State, Indiana, Virginia, Rutgers, Penn State, Maryland, Tennessee, Mississippi State, Kentucky, Auburn, Georgia and North Carolina.

2027 OT Kalel Johnson (6-8 281) of Cincinnati camped at Clemson on Wednesday. His offers included Purdue, Pitt, Minnesota, Virginia Tech, Louisville, Missouri, Ohio State, Kentucky and Maryland.

2028 QB Grayson Clary (6-3 215), formerly of Daniel and now in Rabun Gap, GA was among the campers at Clemson Wednesday morning.

Clemson target DE Bryce Perry-Wright will visit Miami this weekend. He previously had Georgia down for this weekend.

On3 recruiting reporter Hayes Fawcett, Wednesday afternoon, posted an apparent commitment alert for South Carolina, though Shane Beamer has not put out his typical commitment alert, if indeed this is a new commitment for the Gamecocks.

South Carolina target CB Kosci Barnes was offered by North Carolina and by Miami.

2027 OT Nate Carson of Irmo was offered by Oregon.

Newberry RHP Chansen Cole is transferring to West Virginia. This season as a freshman out of Boiling Springs, Cole was 7-5 with a 3.39 ERA. He struck out 97 and walked 21 in 87.2 innings.

Citadel RHP Maddox Webb is transferring. He was First Team All-Southern Conference this season with a 4-1 record with five saves and a 4.04 ERA. He struck out 61 and walked 34 in 55.2 innings.

Clemson offered 6-6 JRob Croy of Riverside, CA.

South Carolina target 6-1 Isaac Ellis of Moravian Prep in NC and Overtime Elite was offered by Murray State. He’s the brother of South Carolina freshman guard Eli Ellis.
