Clemson and Georgia went toe-to-toe for one of the top prospects in the country in CB Jayden Aparicio-Bailey (6-2 190), and this time, the Tigers got the W. Aparicio-Bailey announced on Saturday afternoon his commitment to the Tigers.
Along with Georgia and Clemson, he had South Carolina, Auburn, and Ohio State on his short list before cutting the final three.
Aparicio-Bailey camped with the Tigers last summer, and he was in the stands for the season opener against LSU last August. He also attended the Tigers’ junior day in early March, and he made his official visit the final weekend of May.
That official visit pushed the Tigers over the top with him.
“I knew about a week or two ago. That OV with Clemson really brought it out,” Aparicio-Bailey said during his announcement on Rivals. “Players like Ashley Hampton, Donovan Starr, just them talking to me about how the process is going. And I’ve got to give props to Coach (Mike) Reed. Coach Reed was the biggest part in my recruitment. I feel like he’s the best coach you could go with. If you want to be great, come play with Coach Reed. I love it.”
Aparicio-Bailey has been listed as a safety, but he said Clemson recruiting him to play corner, and he’s just fine with that.
“I can play any position in the top five,” he said when asked what Clemson fans are getting in him. “And just as important, I’m a fun guy. I’m good to be around. I’m going to be a good teammate. And to the Clemson family, I’m all in.”
From all of that exposure to Clemson, Aparicio-Bailey got a good look at the Tom Allen defense and the reworked secondary with Reed, Thomas Allen and several others working to improve that area.
“Coach Allen’s defense is super similar to my high school, so just going through the meeting, I know I would thrive in his scheme,” Bailey said earlier this year. “I was just looking for the scheme and how I would fit, and I definitely got that.”
In his career, Aparicio-Bailey has made 68 tackles with six interceptions and five deflections.
Aparicio-Bailey is the third cornerback commitment for the Clemson 2027 recruiting class and the 24th overall.
