SC Athletic Hall of Fame Class of 2024 (Sideline Carolina)

Monday wasn’t a particularly busy day on the athletic fields in South Carolina. Aside from the Clemson and USC women’s golf teams competing in the NCAA championships, there wasn’t a lot for fans to cheer on the field. Off the field, well, that’s another story.

Monday night, the 62nd annual South Caroliina Athletic Hall of Fame enshrinement ceremonies took place in Columbia, featuring a star-studded group that has received plenty of cheers over the years. The ten-member class includes former Clemson head baseball coach Jack Leggett, PGA Tour star Lucas Glover, former Coastal Carolina and NFL QB Tyler Thigpen, UNC and WNBA standout Ivory Latta, the first NBA draft pick from the College of Charleston Anthony Johnson, Columbia basketball coach William Partlow, NBA player and coach Clifford Ray, Harvard grad and WNBA star Allison Feaster, Oree Banks of SC State football fame, and former USC running back and poet Marcus Lattimore.

The ceremony also recognized Clyde Wrenn from USC with the Willie Jeffries Ambassador for Sports Award, while Clemson icon George Bennett was honored with the Bobby Richardson Sportsmanship Award. Otto German from the College of Charleston received the Felix “Doc” Blanchard Citizen for Sports Award, while Emmy Award-winning basketball broadcaster Debbie Antonelli was honored with the Herman Helms Excellence in Media Award.

SportsTalk was on location for the event and had a chance to catch up with three of the inductees, Jack Leggett, Lucas Glover, and Tyler Thigpen, to hear their thoughts about going into the “Hall of Fame.”
