The team needed this pause, Shane Beamer told reporters – those first five weeks took a toll. Practice began well, yet now the goal is recovery before heading to LSU. Speaking of shifts elsewhere in college ball, Beamer plainly stated firing coaches mid-season is rough on athletes. Though schools hope for a jumpstart on hiring, players might unite or simply leave or join the portal because of it.

Beamer touched on how managing a team has changed with new name, image, likeness rules alongside players transferring more often. Rather than hand off team development to someone else – a “general manager,” as some do – he intends to handle everything himself, viewing his role as both coach moreover general manager. He genuinely likes bringing in new talent while taking complete responsibility for who is on the team. Following the victory against Kentucky, Coach Beamer praised his squad’s energy, noting how well different parts of the game fit together despite some errors on special teams. He highlighted Brian Thomas’ development into an important contributor. Regarding Vanderbilt – their next opponent – Beamer observed they’ve gotten better overall, boasting more receiving options alongside a seasoned defensive unit; he considers them a strong team
