STRecruiting: The third time might be the charm for WR Maleek Miller as he goes three-for-three with South Carolina on the homestand

Dutch Fork WR Maleek Miller (5-11, 180) is one of the few uncommitted prospects left in the 2027 class in South Carolina. However, that could change soon. All it would take is an offer from South Carolina.

Miller has been to the first two games of the season at USC, and he’s returning this Saturday for the Mississippi State game. He and receivers coach Mike Furrey have been talking a lot about the future, and his hope is that those conversations will include an offer from the Gamecocks very soon.

“It’s developing really good, and I think they’re going to pull the trigger on me, you know, take a chance on me,” Miller said. “I love the school. I love the program. I love every Saturday I’m there. I just love it.”

Furrey has seen a lot of Miller over the years, first at Irmo and this spring at Dutch Fork.

“He’s been watching me since freshman year, so he knows who I am,” Miller said. “He’s just telling me to wait, that it’s coming. I put my trust in Coach Furrey, and I know it’s going to happen. We’re going to make it happen.”

Should things work out for Miller and he joins the Gamecocks in 2027, he fully believes he will fit right into the receivers’ room.

“I really don’t compare myself to any receiver that they have, other than Jayden Sellers. He’s pretty good,” Miller said. “I played with Donovan Murph, and I’ve got a pretty nice relationship with all the rest of the receivers in the room. I know I’ll be able to fit in pretty well.”

All it would take for Furrey to be able to add Miller to that group is the official offer, either this weekend or sometime in the near future. There’s no doubt in Miller’s mind he would accept.

“1000%, you know,” he said. “I’ve been living in South Carolina for my whole life. I would have no problem staying home.”

Miller said the only other major school he’s looking at right now is NC State, and he’s supposed to visit there at some point.

Last season, Miller totaled 55 catches for 911 yards and 10 touchdowns. He also rushed for 505 yards and 10 scores.

Miller’s brother, Corey, is a top prospect as well in the 2029 class as a defensive back.
