STRecruiting: South Carolina is working to flip CB Aidyn Wiggins from Auburn, and the Gamecocks seem to be making progress

Byrnes CB Aidyn Wiggins committed to Auburn in June, and that commitment is still in place. But South Carolina has not given up the fight. Wiggins visited for the Mississippi State game, and he’s returning this Saturday for the Kentucky game.

Secondary coach Torrian Gray and defensive coordinator Clayton White want to add Wiggins to the Gamecocks’ 2027 class, and they’ve got Wiggins on speed dial.

“I talk to Coach Gray and Coach White almost every day. They check in with me,” Wiggins said. “I mean, just knowing the type of relationship that we’re building, and then me being up there, and knowing I’d been up there a couple of times already, we made our connection. They were telling me how I could fit in their system and how I could come in and be a big impact if I was to flip and commit to them. And they told me how I would fit in their scheme. And then the visit, it was great. The atmosphere was crazy, especially early on in the game. If I was to come there or flip there, I could see myself playing there for sure.”

Wiggins, who is 6-1 and 182 pounds, knows he’s the kind of cornerback Gray likes in his room.

“He likes his corners being physical,” Wiggins said. “They play a lot of men, and he lets his guys play different techniques. He doesn’t make them play a certain technique every time. He lets them play freely, and however they want.

The USC visit two weeks ago has been the only one for Wiggins this season, and he doesn’t have any others planned at this moment following this week’s visit with the Gamecocks. So the question is, does he feel close to flipping?

“It’s hard to say right now, but I always keep in contact with South Carolina.”

The Gamecocks offered Wiggins on June 15th, and he subsequently participated in a seven-on-seven tournament at USC. Gray has two cornerbacks committed for the 2027 class in Josh Dobson and Kelvin Millington.
