South Carolina is already putting in the work for 2028 OL Ty Winn (6-8 270), and the result from that has been positive to this point. Winn is an up-and-coming prospect in the recruiting sphere. And USC offensive line coach Randy Clements was one of the first to move on him, offering Winn after he made an unofficial visit for a recruiting event in May.
“I like where I am with them,” Wynn said. “We have a big relationship. We reach out often. I love the coaching staff. I learned a lot from them. Just had some good talks with them about what they could turn me into with the way I move, my length, my height, just my athleticism.”
Winn said he and Clements have hit it off well so far, and he sees in Clements a coach who could develop him for the next level.
“Coach Clem has a lot of experience in coaching, just high energy,” Winn said. He loves football and loves to see people get better. They made me feel very special. They always tell me they would love to have me there. I would love to keep building that relationship.”
Winn attended seven camps over the summer, and his performance certainly raised his stock among the recruiters. He worked out for Georgia, Notre Dame, Penn State, Texas, Texas A&M, Ohio State and Northwestern.
“I’m trying to build some more relationships with the coaches,” he said. I got down to see those places and to some more camps to get workouts, and I heard from the coaches about how I would fit in their team. But South Carolina definitely stands out just because I like the coaches there. They have a great facility. Everything over there is great. I would like to have some more conversations with the coaches and hear more about their plans on how I could develop.”
Winn has not set up any visits for the fall at this point, but he does plan a return trip to Columbia.
“I’m definitely going to get down for a game. They were telling me it was crazy down there, so I’ve got to see it,” Winn said. “I want to get out one of the night games.”
Winn does not have a list of favorites at this stage of his recruiting, but along with South Carolina, he cited Georgia, Penn State, Ohio State, Texas and Syracuse as some others standing out with him right now. Some of his other offers are UCLA, North Carolina, Auburn, Texas A&M, Duke, Penn State, NC State, Michigan and Florida.
