2027 WR Jailyn Moore (6-1 180) of Clemmons, NC camped at USC last summer and turned in a blazing 4.3 in the 40. That caught the attention of Gamecock receivers coach Mike Furrey, who wanted to see more of Moore. So, he worked him out on the side, kept his notes, and had him visit for last week’s game against Kentucky.
“South Carolina has been one of my dream schools since I started football and started watching them,” Moore said. “I ended up running my 40, and then that’s when he really was like, wow, we kind of see something in this kid. He brought a few to the game field, like a little private, running routes. So we had to run a couple of routes on the field. He was talking to me, just building a connection. He was like, well, we’re going to keep recruiting you. We think you’re a good kid. You’re very talented. Ever since, I’ve been sending in my film. They reached out to me last week to have me for a game. I was like, sure, I would love to. I ended up going down there with one of my teammates, Tylan Grimes, and we had a good time down there. I brought two other players from my team down there as well. We just had an all-around great time. South Carolina, that’s been one of my dream schools. It really stood out to me when they asked me to come to the game. I enjoyed it.”
Furrey offered Grimes after seeing him in camp in June. From his conversations with Furrey, Moore is hopeful that his performance with his team this season will trigger a similar response from Furrey.
“He was telling me about the recruiting part. He was like, we’re going to keep recruiting you, and we’re going to have eyes on you during your senior season,” Moore said. “We haven’t really talked much about that. The only time we really talk about stuff like that is in person. An offer would be huge. That would be really huge.”
Moore does have some P4 offers from the likes of Wake Forest, NC State, Louisville, and Virginia Tech. He also has offers from Liberty, Campbell, Temple, East Carolina, South Florida, UMass and others.
Moore has only made the one visit to USC for a game this season, and he’s planning to return to Columbia for another one later in the season.
So far this season, Moore said he has around 30 catches for 521 yards and nine touchdowns.
