


South Carolina is likely to cap the week with another commitment on July 4th. The Gamecocks have had a commitment a day through the first three days of July. Today, DE Jayden Broadie (6-3 235) of Rolesville, NC, is set to make his commitment announcement. USC, Virginia Tech, Georgia, Georgia Tech, Missouri, and Auburn were all under consideration by Broadie during the process, but his decision came down to the Gamecocks and Hokies, and indications have been pointing towards USC. The Gamecocks saw Broadie in camp last month and defensive ends coach Deion Barnes followed up with an offer. Last season, Broadie had 98 tackles with 20 tackles for loss and six sacks.
Late Friday night, several USC baseball coaches, including head coach Kevin Schnall, took to social media to proclaim another free agent commitment for the Gamecocks out of the portal. Schnall even responded to a poster’s comment that this was one they had been waiting on by posting, “He coming!!!!!” Schnall could be referring to INF/OF/ RHP Connor Shouse of Texas Tech, regarded as the top prospect left in the portal. He visited USC and Kentucky during the week. This season Shouse earned First Team All-Big 12 honors First Team All-Big 12 honors by hitting .353 with 10 homers and 66 RBIs. He was also a late-game reliever for the Red Raiders, making 11 appearances. He went 1-0 with three saves and a 5.87 ERA. He struck out 16 in 15.1 innings.
