After hitting up the Charlotte market for commitments the past two days, South Carolina will be looking into its own backyard tonight for a third commitment in as many days. Irmo OL Nate Carson is set to make his commitment announcement tonight at 6:00 PM on the 247Sports YouTube channel. Carson made official visits to USC, Clemson, Georgia, and Colorado. The Gamecocks are viewed as the clear favorites to pick up their 16th commitment.
Former Minnesota LHP Will Whelan is headed to South Carolina. The native of Minnesota was 0-0 with a 6.19 ERA in a dozen relief appearances this season.
Former Clemson third baseman Jason Fultz announced he is headed to Ole Miss. Fultz started in 34 of the 40 games he played as a freshman with the Tigers. He batted .231 with one homer and 13 RBIs. He committed just six errors. He’s the sixth former Tiger to find a new home as a free agent.
Former South Carolina first baseman Beau Hollins announced his move to Southern Cal on Thursday. The son of former Gamecock star Dave Hollins had an injury-plagued sophomore season with the Gamecocks and appeared in only 29 games. He hit .200 with no homers and eight RBIs after hitting .308 with six homers and 24 RBIs as a freshman.
