STRecruiting Notebook 6-9: Patterson plugs in USC OV for this weekend; USC offers ’28 DB; Major ’28 OL visits USC; Big baseball pickup for Tigers

Bluffton WR Amare Patterson announced on Tuesday that he was changing his official visit plans for this weekend from Florida to South Carolina. Patterson has taken official visits to Georgia and Georgia Tech. Patterson, who lives in Ridgeland, visited USC for a game last season, and he also visited for a spring practice in March. Last season he had over 1000 all-purpose yards along with 48 catches for 877 yards and 10 touchdowns.

  • RJ HUDSON LB 6-2 205 CHESTERFIELD VA

South Carolina offered 2028 DB Tyrone Miller Jr. (6-1 170) of Richmond. He also holds offers from Penn State, Wake Forest, and SMU.

2028 OL Ty McCurry (6-6 290) of Southlake, TX visited South Carolina on Monday. The Gamecocks offered him in April, and he has nearly 30 offers at this point.

OL Jonathan Toney (6-6 290) of Dublin, GA camped at South Carolina on Monday. The Gamecocks have had some recruiting interest, and him in for a recruiting event in May, but have not offered.

DE Kalib Spivey of Alexander City, AL, who had a Clemson offer and had the Tigers among his favorites, committed to Georgia Tech, which he visited last weekend.

DE Andrew Rogers of Greensboro, NC, who was scheduled for an official visit to Clemson this weekend, has canceled that visit. He also canceled a visit to James Madison. He has taken an official visit to North Carolina.

One-time Clemson target OL Reed Ramsier of Orlando committed to Auburn.

One-time South Carolina and Clemson target DE Chaz Gray of Union, NJ, committed to Washington.

Irmo RB Tai Phillips committed to Alabama Monday night over Florida State and Stanford. Phillips transferred to Irmo from Fayetteville, NC in the offseason. He did not have much recruiting interaction with USC or Clemson.

2028 RB Michael Martin of Christ Church was offered by Georgia Tech.

Baseball News:

INF Troy Sudbrook is headed to Clemson from Toledo. He’s a career .304 hitter with 21 homers and 139 RBIs. This past season, he batted .373 with 11 homers and 71 RBIs. He played in 160 games with the Rockets and committed 24 errors in 413 chances.

OF Landry Stamps of Tyler JC, TX, decommitted from South Carolina.

Former South Carolina OF Aaron Jamison is headed to Austin Peay.

Former South Carolina pitcher Riley Goodman has visited Vanderbilt and will be visiting Georgia, according to the Transfer Portal.

South Carolina INF Erik Parker is in the free agent portal.

South Carolina RHP Connor Chicoli is going into the free agent portal.

Coastal Carolina RHP Luke Jones has entered the free agent portal, per Pete Nakos.

Coastal 2B Walker Mitchell is entering free agency. He’s the son of former South Carolina QB Allen Mitchell.

Coastal LHP Hayden Johnson is in free agency.

Furman announced the signing of former Missouri and South Carolina big man Jordan Butler, a Greenville native.
