Make that five USC targets who plan to make their commitment announcements this week. DE Jayden Broadie (6-3 235) of Rolesville, NC, decided to join the fun, revealing Monday that he will make his decision known on July 4th. Broadie said the decision has been made with USC, Virginia Tech, Georgia, Georgia Tech, Missouri, and Auburn compiling his list of favorites.
Broadie said several factors about the program he chose stood out to him more than any of the other schools.
“I would say constant communication, development with the coach, how he’s invested in me and how interested they are in me,” Broadie said. “And overall, I like how they treat my family.”
Broadie has not taken any official visits, but he plans to set up one with the school he chooses. He camped at USC and Virginia Tech, and those two have been standing out. In particular, he’s been strong on the Gamecocks since defensive ends coach Deion Barnes offered him after seeing him in camp. The contact with Barnes has continued ever since.
“I’ve talked to them pretty consistently,” Broadie said. “I’ve talked to them like every day or every other day. I hear from them on a pretty consistent basis. And they seem very interested in me and invested in me. That’s why they’re one of my top schools.”
Broadie added that the Hokies have also kept in regular contact.
Broadie emerged last season as one of the up-and-coming prospects in North Carolina after a season of 98 tackles with 20 tackles for loss and six sacks.
The other Gamecock targets set to announce this week are CB Josh Dobson and DE Marquis Evans on Wednesday, SAF Davion Jones on Thursday, and OL Nate Carson on Friday.
