QB Titus Huard (6-5, 205) had a late spring showcase in front of plenty of college coaches. One just happened to be Clemson OC Chad Morris. The veteran assistant liked what he saw and hoped to see more this summer. On the last day of Dabo Swinney’s high school camp, he fulfilled his wish.
The 2028 Littleton (CO) Valor Christian prospect was one of the last big-ticket signal callers set to throw for Morris and the Clemson staff during Swinney’s camp. For Huard, who is the son of former Washington Huskies quarterback and current college football analyst for FOX Sports, Brock Huard, this experience included a tour of the campus and facilities the night before.
“It’s my first time to Clemson and South Carolina, and it really blew me away,” he remarked. “Just the facilities; they have everything you could ever need, and just obviously the winning culture and just what they’ve done in the past, and it definitely seems like they’re really trying to get back to the point of another national championship.”
One of the highlights of the day for the Colorado native was working with Morris, who has been heavily involved not just in the process for incoming campers but in Clemson’s recruiting as a whole.
Morris’ resume stuck out to Huard, and the pair spent most of the day working on his drop-backs and the ball placement of certain routes. That level of investment for an entire day of instruction was a blast for Huard to take in.
“Yeah, it just seems like he’s a great coach. He’s been the OC here in the 2010s and the head coach of Arkansas, so he definitely knows what he’s talking about,” Huard clarified. “He worked the footwork with me a lot, just showing me what drops to take and where to put the ball on all the specific routes, and it seems like he’s really invested in me. It was certainly fun having him coach me throughout the day.”
As of this summer, Oregon, Texas Tech, Kansas State, and Arizona State have been the top standouts for Huard, heavily recruiting him throughout the spring as this process has intensified. Clemson’s process of offering the next batch of quarterbacks is currently meticulous, but if Huard receives an offer, he says the Tigers will quickly shoot up the list.
“If an offer came through, that would be pretty awesome because it would show they want me and they’re one of my top schools,” he explained. “I really like them, and just the whole culture they have going on there. It’s something great they have.”
Last season, Huard passed for 1946 yards with 16 touchdowns and four interceptions.
