South Carolina expects to have some top targets on hand for Saturday’s SEC battle with Tennessee. One of those will be 2028 DE Christian Webb-Scott (6-6 250) of Westside.

USC head coach Shane Beamer made Webb-Scott an offer a few years ago when he was playing for Buford High in Georgia. New defensive ends coach Deion Barnes has kept up the recruiting of Webb-Scott and developed his own relationship.

“They’ve been recruiting me hard,” Webb-Scott said. “They were my first offer back when I was coming out of 8th grade. And just the fact that they went through the coaching change (at defensive end), that they stuck with me and still treated me as a high-profile recruit for them, I just really appreciate that. I have had good conversations with both Coach Barnes and Coach Beamer.”

Webb-Scott has been a frequent visitor to USC. He has been in for games in the past and has also attended spring practices and summer camps. He already has a good feel for the program.

“I love what I see there,” Webb-Scott said. “I definitely see myself playing defensive end in that type of environment. They’re really high on my list.”

Other programs high up with Webb-Scott right now are Texas A&M, Alabama, Tennessee, Oregon, Notre Dame, and Miami. “Those are schools that have been reaching out to me the most,” he said.

Webb-Scott is also considering Clemson, and he’s had communications with defensive ends coach Chris Rumph. But the push from the Tigers hasn’t been there like it has been from the others.

“I’ve been going to camps since I was little, and I went to some games last year and the year before,” Webb-Scott said. “He (Rumph) wanted me to come to the game this Saturday, but I already had South Carolina scheduled, so I’m trying to see if there are any more openings. I still would like to receive an offer from there. They’re still on my list of places I’d like to go. That was my childhood team. I still like them. I still have love for them.”

Webb-Scott has gotten around a lot this season and has several more visits planned. He was in Atlanta for the Auburn-Baylor game. He has also been to Nebraska, Tennessee, LSU, and he was at Georgia last Saturday. He also has visits set with Notre Dame and Texas A&M.

So far this season, Webb-Scott has 45 tackles with 12 tackles for loss and six sacks. Last season, he totaled 44 tackles with six tackles for loss and four sacks.
