Frashad Tisby

New South Carolina assistant basketball coach Steve Smith is doing some work in Augusta recruiting 6-5 Frashad Tisby. The two have been working on an official visit date in either September or October. And Smith continues to impress upon Tisby some reasons why USC would be the best place for him.

“Just making sure that I still got interest in them, and making sure that I feel like South Carolina could be a home to me,” Tisby said. “They’ve been following me since they first offered me in the summer of my junior year last year. I can’t even count how many times they’ve seen me this summer, but I know for sure they were there. If Coach Lamont (Paris) wasn’t there, I know one of the assistants was there.”

At one point, Clemson was involved with Tisby, but that’s no longer the case. Several other programs are, however, and he’s looking at some others for official visits.

“I have Harvard, Arizona State, and I’m planning to set one with UAB; those three for sure right now,” Tisby said. “I think Arizona State is the 18th through the 19th (of September).”

Tisby said USC, Harvard, UAB and Arizona State are joined by Marquette, Yale, Charlotte and Florida State as the schools which have been showing him the most love this summer.

Tisby plans to take his official visits this fall, and then follow those up with his commitment decision.

“I will probably make it sometime in November,” he said. “I’m planning to before basketball season starts for me. I’m planning to take all the officials sometime in August or September.”
