STRecruiting: 2027 SF Frashad Tisby reviews his official visit weekend at South Carolina, and things sound promising for the Gamecocks

South Carolina basketball coach Lamont Paris has not yet taken a commitment for the 2027 class, but that could soon change. 6-6 Frashad Tisby of Augusta made his official visit to USC over the weekend. That was his final official visit following earlier trips to Marquette, Harvard and Yale. Paris and his staff have made Tisby a focal point of their recruiting since the summer, and that work appears to be paying off.

“It went well,” Tisby said. “The last two, three times I went up there, mainly it was about the basketball part that I saw, so I didn’t really get to tour the campus or do anything of that nature. So this time, I was able to tour the campus, see all the type of dorms, see all the academic classes and potentially where I could see myself talking to all the academic advisors.”

But there was also plenty of discussion about the basketball program and how he would fit in with the Gamecocks.

“Me and close pairs, we’ve been always talking,” Tisby said. “He always said I had a a nice feel for the game and the little things I do, not just scoring, not the stuff in the stat sheet, the stuff outside the stat sheet. They’ve also put a couple players in the league. So, I could see if that could be me one day. I would love that because that’s been a dream of me since I was a little kid. For me to get the chance to potentially be coached under a well-known coach that’s put players in the league, that would be a great feeling.”

With his OVs behind him, Tisby is in the final stages on making his decision, and there’s a clear cut leader.

“Now that I went back to the campus and I saw everything, they’re (USC) at the top of my priority board,” Tisby said. Is South Carolina number one? “I could say that.”

And a timetable on a commitment announcement?

“It should be very soon,” Tisby said. “I just talked to my parents today because today was my last one (visit). I kind of talked to my parents already about where I’m going, where I think we should go. I think we’re going to have one more conversation, like tomorrow morning, maybe.”

Tisby added that he talked again with Paris on Sunday night, but did not give him a commitment during that conversation.
