STRecruiting: 2027 defensive tackle target was back at USC Saturday, and he plans a third trip in November, likely for an official visit

South Carolina defensive line coach Travian Robertson picked up the second 2027 commitment for his room on Sunday when Nate Kamba broke his commitment to Auburn and pledged to the Gamecocks. Another 2027 target for Robertson is Kennan Burtch (6-3 280) of Carnesville, GA, and he was also at Williams-Brice on Saturday for his second visit of the season.

“It was wonderful. It felt like home,” Burch said. “What impressed me the most? Really the D-line. I love how they got after it. I know I can compete with them. And I know that I won’t be just doing it by myself. And then after the game, it was so different than every other school that I went to. I ran out there (on the field) by myself, and then I ended up meeting up with another recruit. I jumped around all right.”

Besides being caught up in the moment of an exciting Gamecock win, Burtch had another serious conversation with Robertson and other coaches.

“That went wonderfully,” Burtch said. “I love them, and I can’t wait to meet them again. I’m going out there November 7th for another visit. I’m pretty sure it is going to be official. That’s what my agent told me.”

South Carolina has been a frontrunner with Burch ever since Robertson became heavily interested and offered. That’s still the case coming out of this most recent visit.

“South Carolina is definitely in my top three, but I’m not going to disclose that (a decision) right now until Signing Day,” Burch said. “They’ve been in contact with me most the majority of this year. Really, it’s like neck and neck with NC State. State came to my game and watched me play, and they’re like 5 hours away. So, it’s like neck and neck right now.

Burch added that Tennessee is also one of his favorites. Burch plans to visit NC State this coming Saturday. He has already been to Tennessee for a game this season.

Burch said he will make up his mind and commit to a school before the December 3rd signing day, but he does not plan to reveal his choice until then.
