Coastal Carolina head football coach Tim Beck is dealing with a new reality.
“One of the things that’s changing in the landscape of college football, you’re not building a program anymore,” Beck lamented. “This isn’t a program. Each year, you just build a team.”
Beck met with the media on Thursday to preview the Chanticleers upcoming appearance in the Myrtle Beach Bowl against the University of Texas at San Antonio. And as much as he would have liked to talk about the game against the Roadrunners, the transfer portal was difficult to ignore. Especially considering the portal defections his team has experienced since CCU’s win at Georgia State on November 30th.
“It’s extremely frustrating,” Beck said when asked about developing players who ultimately decide to move on. The Chanticleers have lost both of their experienced quarterbacks, Ethan Vasko and Noah Kim, to the portal. Not to mention tight end Kendall Karr, along with first-team all-Sun Belt performers DE Clev Lubin and DB Matthew McDoom.
Beck hinted that North Carolina transfer Tad Hudson will probably be the starting quarterback in the Myrtle Beach Bowl while giving his thoughts about his team and the matchup with UTSA on December 23rd in Conway.
